About Is This A Scam?

Is This A Scam? is an AI-powered scam detection service operated by FortifiedWall LLC. People email suspicious texts, letters, voicemails, documents, and QR codes to Preview-Check@IsThisAScam.Email and get back a plain-language verdict with recommended next steps.

What the service does

Every submission is analyzed by multiple AI models that work independently and cross-check each other before a verdict is sent back: SAFE, SUSPICIOUS, SCAM, or UNKNOWN. One subscription covers up to 6 email addresses, so a family can add parents, a partner, or kids as members — each person forwards from their own address and gets their own verdict back.

What the service doesn't do

Advice only. Not a recovery service. We help people decide whether something is safe before they act on it — we do not recover funds that have already been sent, negotiate with scammers, or act on anyone's behalf. If money has already been sent, the first calls are the bank or card issuer, then reportfraud.ftc.gov, and for financial fraud ic3.gov.

The service is also fully automated — there is no human-consultation tier. Every verdict comes from the AI analysis pipeline described above, not a person reading submissions.

How our guides are written and reviewed

The scam guides are grounded in the patterns our AI analysis surfaces across real submissions in aggregate, cross-referenced against publicly documented tactics and figures from the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network and the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) — both linked inline wherever a guide cites a statistic. Worked examples in each guide are illustrative composites based on common patterns we see, not a verbatim reproduction of any individual's submission; nothing a subscriber sends us is published. Each guide carries a "Last reviewed" date and is revisited as scam tactics change.
